Moon Vibes
Let the inner churning begin
Moon Vibes
When the moon is full
it creates a gravitational pull on the Earth,
creating higher tides and lower tides.
The Sun, Earth and Moon alignment occurs
13 times on a full moon, in one year.
Internally the water within us
creates emotional tides.
When we ride a good vibe
the good vibrations within us heighten
especially when the full moon is near.
Get ready…
“Fly me to the moon and let me dance amongst the stars”
The moon, for all its beauty often leaves us howling if not growling at times.
How so?
The earth is made up of vasts amount of water approximately 70% water to 30% Earth. Our bodies are no different. Housing 60-70% water.
If scientifically we can say that the moon has an affect on the tides on earth is it not fair or reasonable to say that the water within our bodies will also go through such a change?
We are creatures of Earth. Our composition matches that of Earth’s. When Earth is affected our earthly bodies are affected too.
The day you were born
Jyotish is the constellation and planetary pattern that is recorded at the moment you were born. The moon would have been dancing in one of 12 astrological signs from Aries to Pisces and be seated in a Nakshatra, one of the 27/28 constellations.
Just as the moon was dancing so were the other planets and sun. Each taking its place in a particular sign. My theory is if the moon and sun which are so far from planet Earth can have an affect on us and our bodies then why not the other planets?
Sun governs our heart, spine, immunity and vitality. Anything that governs the heart becomes the most important “planet” for each of us.
Moon affects our stomach, mental health, emotions, fluids in the body. It is not surprising that in the Vedic culture they promote fasting around certain moon cycles and eclipses.
Mercury affects our nervous system and communication
Venus is said to affect our sexual organs, kidneys, skin and urinary system.
Mars affects our blood, muscles, energy and creates aggressive behaviours
Jupiter is associated with metabolism, growth and the liver. The liver is deemed as one the most important organs we look after in Ayurveda.
Saturn has an affect on bones, teeth and the overall skeletal structure.
Rahu (north node) & Ketu (south node) affect sexual health and create spiritual challenges. The nodes are an unseen mystical energy which creates a smokes and mirrors affect. Often testing our faith when we least want it.
The Sagar Manthan
There is a beautiful story about the time when the Ocean was churned by the Asuras, sons of Diti and the Devas, sons of Aditi. If you don’t know, the Devas and Asuras shared the same Father, Maharishi Kashyapa, but different Mothers. In fact everyone in the story of the Sagar Manthan is linked in some form or another. Vasuki, the snake who rests on the shoulders of Shiva, is the son of Kadru another wife of Kashyapa. Kadru’s sister Vinata, one of 13 sisters, is the mother of Garuda, the mount of Vishnu. These 13 sisters are all the daughters of Prajapati Daksha. Father also to Sati, the first wife of Shiva.
The significance of the Moon in this story is that it is said to have been churned during the Manthan and was placed on the head of Shiva.
